After-School Care With School Pickup in Gahanna: What Working Parents Should Know

Gym Skills After School

The end of the school day can be one of the hardest parts of the schedule for working parents. School may let out around 3:00, but your workday doesn’t. Your child needs somewhere safe to go, someone responsible to watch them, and the hours between school and pickup are actually accounted for.

If you’re searching for after-school care in Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, East Columbus, Blacklick, New Albany, or nearby communities, school pickup can make a huge difference. Instead of coordinating another handoff or racing across town, your child can move from school into a structured afternoon with time for schoolwork, a snack, movement, and play.

Gym Skills Columbus offers our After School Program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, which combines school pickup with supervised activities at our Gahanna gym.

What Does the Gym Skills After School Program Include?

The Gym Skills Columbus After School Program is available for kindergarteners to fifth graders and runs from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participating families have the option for part-time or full-time programs depending on their needs.

After arriving at Gym Skills, children have time for schoolwork and classroom activities, plus a snack. The afternoon also includes guided physical activities such as trampoline time, the Ninja Course and Warped Wall, organized games, obstacle courses, and additional gym time.

Not all after school care provides these options. Our kids can take care of their school obligations and get the chance to move around after being stuck in a classroom for much of the day.

For a working parent, that means picking up a child who’s ready for parent time instead of a child who’s playing catch up.

Which Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, and New Abany Schools Have Pickup?

Gym Skills Columbus currently does school pickup from several Gahanna City Schools, including Blacklick, Chapelfield, Goshen Lane, High Point, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Royal Manor. Our program also serves Taylor and Waggoner Elementary in Reynoldsburg , New Albany Primary School, and St. Matthews, Shepard Christina, and Columbus Academy Private Schools.

Pickup locations can change, so we encourage parents to confirm current availability with Gym Skills before registering.

If your child attends another elementary in Columbus area, it’s still worth reaching out to ask what options may be available.

Why Working Families Should Consider School Pickup

We believe that the biggest after-school question is not what activity sounds fun. Rather, it’s how a child can safely go from school to where they need to be. Gym Skills gives you that peace of mind with our licensed and trained educators.

Our after-school program with school pickup removes one of those daily logistic problems for parents. This gives children a more consistent routine because they know where they’re going, who will be there, and what their afternoon will look like. Ask us about our drivers.

What Should Parents Ask Before Choosing After-School Care?

Before enrolling in any after-school program, ask questions that match your real weekday routine.

  • Where will my child be picked up?
  • What time does the program end?
  • Is there time for homework? Is a snack included?
  • How much of the afternoon is active?
  • Who is supervising the children? What happens if my schedule changes?

You should also think about your child. Some kids need time to move after school. Others need a little quiet time before jumping into an activity. A good program should make room for both.

At Gym Skills, the afternoon includes schoolwork, classroom activities, guided gym activities, and free-choice time, giving children more than one way to reset after the school day. Our Gahanna location is also big enough to accommodate quiet and play time for all child needs.

After-School Care vs After-School Class: Enroll in the Right One

From time to time, our parents enroll in the wrong activity.

For working parents who need coverage for the full gap between school dismissal and the end of their workday, Gym Skills’ After School Program is the answer. Again, that means a reliable after-school transportation, supervision, and routine their child enjoys.

If you’re looking for a once-a-week activity rather than ongoing care, Gym Skills also offers gymnastics, tumbling, ninja, open gym, and other ways for kids to stay active after school
